Songwriting Woes? Turn the Television On or Flip the Newspaper for Inspiration

There are lots of instances when no matter how hard you call your muse, you just couldn’t come up with any catchy verse at all. So, what can you do when you can’t find inspiration to create lovely song lyrics within yourself?

The Broadway musical "Beautiful"– the genuine story of Carole King's momentous ascent from off camera musician to solo fame — took home 3 Tony Awards in June.  Starting off with this bit of trivia has a purpose of showing the great achievement a songwriter can gain that will definitely inspire all artists. However, often times, it’s really hard to find inspiration from within. There are lots of instances when no matter how hard you call your muse, you just couldn’t come up with any catchy verse at all. So, what can you do when you can’t find inspiration to create lovely song lyrics within yourself?

Watch TV

The television plays more than just the role of an entertainment appliance. It exposes you to a huge base of emotions throughout the world. Whether you are watching a news program or following a soap opera, you definitely can gain some inspiration from it. It taps your emotions through the strong feelings that actors exude when they play their roles on various movies or soap operas. If these dramas are out of your league, the everyday news would definitely tickle your imagination. You will see people living real lives, hence making you realize exactly what song topics these people would relate to.

Flip the newspapers and magazines

Newspapers or magazines can come to your aide just when you need sources of inspiration the most. These print media cover a wide array of topics that you can incorporate in your songs. These are also published on regular intervals so you are assured that the ideas you get are updated and are something that present song listeners will relate to.

You could only have a writer’s block over one particular song, and then start writing on something else and the inspiration miraculously comes back! When inward inspiration isn’t doing its job, you can simply take a look at things around you and rediscover your songwriting passion!

So, what are you waiting for? Find your inspiration, take out your Fender Guitar and write songs that will impact and conquer the world!
